Replacement for Nikon Coolpix P900

Even though we still don’t know its name at the moment (some say it may be P4000), we’re all expecting the soon to be released model from Nikon that is going to replace the well known Nikon Coolpix 900 (that is still selling very well).

What we do know is that Nikon Japan got a new patent for a compact super zoom camera with an impressive 100x optical zoom (4.4-440 mm f/2.8-8/3 or 24-2400 mm equivalent). It’s supposed to be designed for a 1/2.3” sensor.

The current model, the Nikon Coolpix P900 already comes with a great zoom- 83x (24-2000mm) which makes an ideal option for the holidays as it gives you to take great pictures from long distances.

The Coolpix P900 comes with 4.3-357mm f/2.8 to f/2.

We hope for the new model to come with a RAW function as the Coolpix 900 doesn’t have. We’d like it to have also some simple features like the back button focus or the ability to re-assign buttons.

Many think that the current Coolpix P900 comes with a sensor that is a bit too small, so maybe the new replacements is going to come with a bigger one.

Considering that new models are always pricier, we’d expect the new replacement to be at least $100 more expensive than the Coolpix 900.

As for the body or the size, we’re not expecting many changes, but only for the better. The new replacement is going to be a great choice for the holidays, so it’s going to handle the challenges of the outdoors and the heavy duty use.
